"Lord Nelson", um veleiro inclusivo em Lisboa - "Lord Nelson", an inclisive Tall Ship at Lisbon

Aportou em Lisboa, em Novembro do ano passado, o Veleiro “Lord Nelson”, Um veleiro de Classe A com características ímpares. È a primeira embarcação, deste género, a ser desenhada propositadamente para pessoas com mobilidade reduzida. O veleiro Britânico veio a Lisboa para promover a “The Tall Ship Race 2012 Lisboa”que se realizará na Capital portuguesa entre os dias 19 e 22 de Julho de 2012. São esperados cerca de 60 Grandes Veleiros com 5 mil tripulantes de 49 países.

O “Lord Nelson” nasceu de uma ideia de Colin Mudie, que impôs que metade da tripulação fosse portadora de mobilidade condicionada e para isso a embarcação tem vários tipos de acessos para cadeiras de rodas em todos os espaços.

No Verão de 1984 começou a angariação dos fundos para a construção do veleiro. Dois anos depois, a 17 de Outubro de 1986 o “Lord Nelson” é lançado à água e faz a sua primeira viagem a SouthHampton.

Propriedade da Associação Jubilee Sailing Trust, este navio inglês mede 52,42 metros de comprimento, tem capacidade para navegar em qualquer Mar do Mundo. Este veleiro já transportou mais de 30 mil pessoas, 12 mil com deficiências físicas e 5 mil em cadeiras de rodas.

As “the Tall Ship Races” são regatas organizadas anualmente pela Sail Training International que tem como missão a formação e treino no mar. O objectivo deste evento é embarcar jovens na frota dos Grandes Veleiros e proporcionar-lhes experiências inesquecíveis de Treino de Mar.

Last November, went to Lisbon’s port the Sailing Ship “Lord Nelson”. An A Class Tall Ship with uncommon characteristics. It is the first ship, of its kind, to be designed  purposively to people with reduced mobility. The British ship went to Lisbon to promote “The Tall Ship Race 2012 Lisboa” that will take place in at the Portuguese capital between 19th and 22th July 2012.  Are expected over 60 Tall Ships with 5 thousand crew members from 49 countries.

“Lord Nelson” was born fron an Colin Mudie idea, who impose that half of the crew members were condicionated mobility carrier and because of that the ship has many wheelchair accesses on every places.

In the Summer  of 1984 started the fundraising for built the sail ship. Two years later, in September 17th 1986 “lord Nelson “ went to water and make its first trip to Southampton.

Jubilee’s Sailing Trust property, this English ship measure 52,42 meters in length and has the capability to sail in any Sea of the world. The Sail ship has transported more then30 tousand people, 12 thousand with physical disabilities and 5 thousand in wheelchair users.

“The Tall Ship Races” are ship races annually organized by the Sail Training International and has the mission to provide training at sea. This event’s objective is to embark young people in the Tall Ship fleet e proportionate unforgettable experiences of Sea training.
