Accessible Artwork for people with visual impairments

The Museum-House Anastácio Gonçalves offers art works and some of its collection to be played and perceived by people with visual impairments.


Located at 5 October Avenue, in Lisbon, The Musem-House Anastácio Goncalves was designed by architect Norte Junior, dated 1904-05. This building was built by the Portuguese painter José Malhoa, who wanted to make his dwelling house and studio. In 1905 the project won the Valmor.
Throughout the house are present style neoromantic, "home at portuguese style" and the Art Nouveau style which is exemplary in the last city in the Portuguese capital.

In 1932, the ophthalmologist Anastacio Gonçalves bought to José Malhoa the house. It was here that the Portuguese doctor lives and organized their collections of artworks till the year of his death in 1969. In will donate the building and its filling for "recreation and culture of the Portuguese people".

After some rehabilitation work Anastácio Gonçalves Museu-House, also known as Casa-Malhoa reopens to the public in 1980.

Over the years Dr. Anastacio Goncalves collected works of art and various styles.
In the field of painting are evident to the public picture of Portuguese painters, oil paintings, watercolors and drawings from the nineteenth and twentieth centuries.

The porcelain also deserved consideration by the collector. Chinese porcelains from (twelveth and nineteenth centuries) from the commercial exchanges between Portugal and China.



The public can also enjoy a collection of furniture pieces dated from the XVII and XIX. In the collection of furniture pieces should be highlighted in Taba and golden hardwoods like "pau santo".
The Collector
Anastácio Gonçalves had always cared about others. It is no coincidence that in 1914 started a specialization in ophthalmology. This decision had to do with a blindness that his sister contracted with 4 years of age.Works of art accessible to blindThe leadership of the Museum-House decided to make accessible to blind people paintings, textiles and porcelain pieces of furniture so that it can better capture specific audience this collection.

Cresaçor - Accessible Tourism in the Azores

Cresaçor is a Solidary Economic Regional Cooperative, located in the Azores. This institution provides accessible tourism services at São Miguel island.

Located in Sete Cidades parish on São Miguel island in the Azores, Cresaçor works with the objective of promoting the developmentof local and community potential for rural tourism resources of the Sete Cidades. Thesetourism and leisure activities within the tourism and Inclusive Social Solidarityand particularly to disadvantaged groups and people with a disability.

Cresaçor, together with a youth Association from Candelária, drives an echo-tourism store called Eco-atlântida, in Sete Cidades. Among some leisure activities – canoeing, trekking, bicycle rental, jeep safari, excursions, Azorean rustic golf, traditional Portuguese games, the visitor can still find a space full of local products and also products produced by Solidary institutions.
Cresaçor - Regional Cooperative of Solidary Economy, with the headquarters in São Miguel island, with the license nº 08/2005 of touristic animation company and an ENAT – European Network of Accessible Tourism member nº800, seeks the touristic development of the Archipelago of the Azores, promoting leisure and recreational according to the concept of social, Solidarity and inclusive tourism, particularity activities accessible, not only to underprivileged groups, but also to handicapped individuals. The accessible actitivites are: joellette walks(pedestrian walks in an apropriate chair for disabled people); canoeing and excursions in an adaped ven.

Oporto's Tape Library

The Oporto’s Municipal Public Library, through the Oporto’s Tape Library
provides non-musical phonograms or "talking books", to blind or partially sighted people. This service is available in the physical environment also has some titles on the Internet.
The Oporto’s Tape Library serves the blind and amblyopic population since November 1971. The creators of this project were inspired by the Royal Institute for the Blind StudentsTape Library.
The mission of this library is to provide the reading recorded visually impaired.
This service is unique to the blind and visually impaired. To access phonograms pre registration is required, which must be authenticated by the library services. After authentication has been made you will have direct access to all the available audio books at the library and on the Internet.

The works available rondamos 6000 titles, nearly 60,000 hours of sound, covering all areas of human knowledge, literary genres and thematic. On the Internet the number of audio books is about 500.

Due to budgetary constraints the recording of audio books is made by the library volunteers made ​​pot, usually people connected to the ​​communication area . If you want to be a library’s volunteer you can fill and application at the Oporto’s Municipal Public Library or SMAV - Municipal Service Support to the Volunteer.

National Theater D. Maria II with accessibilities

The National Theater Dona Maria II has facilities for handicapped and deaf people can watch plays or able to visit the building. There are special discounts for disabled citizens.Located in Lisbon, the National Theater D. Maria II, provides accessible facilities and services designed for disabled guests. The Studio Garrett rooms and are fully accessible by elevators and platform lifts. The Noble hall is partially accessible. There are guided tours with accessible route. There is a bathroom for disabled spectators and parking for spectators with special needs.The deaf spectators can watch weekly ,on Sunday afternoons. The sessions with interpretation in Portuguese Sign Language , in career plays. This service is subject to advance booking up to 7 days prior to the session.



HistoryIn September 1836, Portugal had just emerged from a civil war. Passos Manuel, then Prime Minister, influenced by the romantic atmosphere that circulated throughout Europe, instructs the polititian and writer Almeida Garrett to create, organize and build a National Theater to contribute to the People’s education .Garrett was also responsible for creating the General Inspection of Theaters and National Conservatory of Dramatic Arts, establish playwriting awards and regulate copyright. A temporary building was chosen, at the street theater of the Condes.Also in 1846, the new National Theatre, would definitely installed at the Estaus palace, former headquarters of the Inquisition. In 1842, began reconstruction work under the guidance of Italian architect Fortunato LodiThe National Theater D. Maria II was inaugurated on April 13th , 1846, the 27th anniversary celebrations of Queen Maria II. The piece then brought to the stage, was a historical drama in five acts "The Wizard an the 12 of England " by Jacinto Aguiar Loureiro.With the implementation of the Republic on 5 October 1910, the theater was renamed to National Theatre Almeida Garrett. In 1964 then building suffered a very violent fire, of which only the walls are left. After several years of reconstruction work, reopens to the public in 1978, as we know it today. Penedono joins the Network for Excellence Towns and Cities for All

The village of Penedono, Viseu District, in northern Portugal, became part since last February, the European Network of Cities for All Villages.

The first signs of human occupation in the area date back to centuries of Boulder V / IV BC (Neolithic middle / end). This population lived pastoralism, hunting and  rudimentary agriculture.

The first inhabitants of this region gave importance to the cult of death. This is well visible in multicore megalithic necropolises in Lameira  de Cima, place of Senhora do Monte, parish Penela da Beira and Castainço.

The Romanization brought Penedono pottery construction, industrial and domestic. is also this that starts the mining, especially gold.

At the time of the Christian Reconquest and the founding of the nation Penedono is taken to the Arabs by Fernando I, the Great, between 1055 and 1057. The greatest testimony of this era is the Penedono Castle . A century fortified manor X / XI, who suffered a new configuration in the fourteenth century. To remember this time every year a fair is recreated medieval place in July. This year the 5, 6 and 7 July 2013

The Olive oil

The olive oil has always been one of the cultures of the Mediterranean peoples. The region Penedono was no exception. In Póvoa de Penela, one of the parishes, existed in times three olive oil rmills. Nowadays there is only one. It was totally intervened. Currently this mill was transformed into a museum where it is explained to visitors the whole process of cultivation of olive oil from the olive harvest olive groves down to arrive at the table, in the form of oil or treated to be consumed as a snack meals.

Penedono na Rede Europeia das Vilas e Cidades para Todos

A vila de Penedono, Distrito de Viseu, no Norte de Portugal, passou a fazer parte, desde Fevereiro passado, da Rede Europeia das Vilas  Cidades Para Todos.

 
Os primeiros sinais de ocupação humana na região de Penedo  remontam aos séculos V/ IV A.C. (neolítico médio/final). Esta população vivia da pastorícia, da caça e de uma agricultura rudimentar.

  Os primeiros habitantes desta região davam uma importância ao culto da morte. Este facto é bem visível nos vários núcleos de necrópoles Megaliticas existentes no concelho, em Lameira de Cima, lugar de Senhora do Monte, freguesia de Penela da Beira  e Castaínço.

 A Romanização, trouxe  para Penedono a cerâmica de construção, industrial e doméstica. é também nesta que se dá inicio à exploração mineira, principalmente do ouro.

 Na época da Reconquista Cristã e da fundação da nacionalidade Penedono é tomada aos Árabes por  Fernando I, o Magno entre 1055 e 1057.  O maior testemunho desta época é o Castelo de Penedo. Um solar fortificado do século X/ XI, que sofreu uma nova configuração no século XIV. Para recordar  este tempo, todos os anos é recriada uma feira medieval que realiza em Julho. Este ano a 5, 6 e 7 de Julho de 2013

 
No rescaldo da Revolução Liberal, no século XIX,  com a junção de várias povoações vila de Penedono é elevada  concelho.

 O Azeite

 A olivicultura ,desde sempre foi uma das culturas dos povos mediterrânicos.  região de Penedono não fugiu à regra. Em Póvoa de Penela, uma das freguesias do concelho, existiram, em tempos,  três  azenhas. Hoje em dia existe apenas uma. Foi totalmente intervencionada.  Actualmente esta azenha foi transformada num Museu onde  é explicado ,aos visitantes todo o processo de cultivo do azeite, desde apanha  da azeitona no olival até  à chega à mesa, em forma de azeite ou tratada para ser consumida como aperitivo às refeições.
