A Câmara Municipal de Viana do Castelo está a disponibilizar a sua Agenda Cultural em Braille. Esta iniciativa permite às pessoas invisuais acederem a toda a informação disponível na Agenda Cultural daquele Município.

Inserida no projecto ”Informar com um novo olhar”, da responsabilidade da Equipa de Acessibilidades do Gabinete Cidade Saudável e do Serviço Especial de Leitura da Biblioteca Municipal esta iniciativa tem como objectivo democratizar o acesso à informação municipal, dos deficientes visuais.
O Serviço Especial de Leitura dispõe de um computador com software específico para leitura de ecrã e reconhecimento de texto digitalizado. Dispõe também de um leitor autónomo e uma lupa electrónica, impressora e linha Braille e permite assim consultar fundos documentais, e outros documentos como jornais.
A Câmara Municipal está, neste momento, a preparar a reconversão em Braille de várias brochuras informativas e turísticas de Viana do Castelo em 2012. Neste momento já está disponível, em Braille, o Roteiro de Arquitectura, do qual a Biblioteca Municipal é o símbolo maior (desenhada por Álvaro Siza Vieira).
A Agenda Cultural está a ser enviada a associações como a ACAPO, que dão apoio a pessoas com deficiência visual.Tanto a Agenda Cultural e as brochuras informativas e turísticas em Braille estão disponíveis no posto de Turismo e na Biblioteca Municipal.

Viana do Castelo City Council is making available its Cultural Agenda, in Braille. This initiative allows blind people to access all the information available in this Municipality’s Cultural Agenda.
Inserted on “Report with a new look” project, from Accessibilities Staff from Healthy City Office and Municipal Library’s Special Reading Service, this initiative aims to democratize the access to municipal information, to the people with visual disabilities.

The Special Reading Service has a computer with specific software to screen reading and automatic recognition for scanned text. It has also a stand-alone player and printer and line Braille that allows to consult documental funds, and other documents like newspapers.
The City Council is, at this moment, preparing a Braille reconversion of informative and touristic brochures form Viana do Castelo in 2012. At The moment, the Architecture Routing in Braille is available, the Municipal Library, (designed by Álvaro Siza Vieira), is its major symbol.
The Cultural Agenda is being sent to affiliations like ACAPO*, that support people with visual disabilities.The Cultural Agenda and the informative and touristic brochures are available at the Tourism office and Municipal Library.
